Process

1. What is the process?

1. We discuss the details of the project, such as number of units to be modeled and presentation mode (Flash movies, still images, website integration, etc).

2. The project estimate is drawn up, the contract is signed and the initial deposit is collected. The deposit is 50% of the estimate.

3. Property information is obtained such as measurements, colors, materials, location, landscaping, etc (see next question).

4. The 3d floorplan is created and delivered. Invoices are sent with deliverables.

2. How long does the process take?

It depends on the complexity. The simplest to model are single-story apartment units, while expansive multi-story properties will take much longer.

Typically, 3d floorplans take a matter of days each to model and render. The factors to consider include:

  • Amount and quality of information provided (floorplans, photos, etc)
  • Complexity of materials
  • Complexity of landscaping
  • Number of delivery modes

    Contact us for an estimate.

    3. What information is needed to create a 3d floorplan?

All we need are floorplans and information about interior materials. This can come in the form of photos, sketches or verbal/written descriptions. In the case of verbal/written descriptions, we provide a form to fill out detailing interiors.

For clients in the Phoenix area, we will personally arrive to photograph the property.

    4. What's in the contract?

    Our contract includes the following:

  • Responsibilities
  • Warranties
  • Authorship credit
  • Contact information
  • Payment terms
  • Project summary and cost

    Payment

    5. How do you charge?

All work is charged hourly with a deposit equal to 50% of the estimate.

A ballpark estimate is typically 1/2 the square footage in dollars (e.g. 1000 sq ft = $500). Of course, properties with little detail and simple furnishings will cost less, while highly detailed properties with complex furnishings will cost more.

    6. How is a 3d floorplan added to a website?

3d floorplans can be added to a client's website as images or interactive Flash presentations. Everything is delivered to the client's webmaster; Flash presentations come with all necessary code and instructions.

If the client has no professional webmaster, Homes in 3d will add the 3d floorplan presentations to the website. Owner Ellen McDonough is an award-winning web designer of Visionary Websites, and can assist on any website programming or design issue.
